It is a clear departure from the Marc Jacobs Parent Line Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley wanted to illustrate with the Fall 2014 ad campaign - starting by casting their models from Instagram using the hashtag #CastMeMarc. In April thousands answered the call and Hillier and Bartley narrowed over 70.000 entries to only 30 finalists to keep 9 for the camaign. The result is rebellious, young and urban: Shot by David Sims, the social media models were photographed in colorful hair, energetic poses and and eccentric prints to show the new direction of the brand. "It seemed like a great idea to me, as casting through instragram seemed cool, current, and strong," Jacobs said to WWD. "We wanted the ads to shout with youth and energy...to be fresh and reclaim the spirit that the collection had when we first conceived it - to be another collection, not a second line."
